[English]

Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment based on choice theory on resilience and negative spontaneous thoughts of first women in polygamous families.
Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study (pre-test-post-test design with control group). The statistical population of the study included all the first women of polygamous families who were selected by convenience sampling of 40 people and were divided into experimental and control groups. Connor and Davidson resilience questionnaires and Holon and Kendall negative spontaneous thoughts were used. Treatment based on selection theory was performed on the experimental group in 8 sessions. At the end of the intervention period, post-test was taken from both groups. Analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that treatment based on selection theory has significantly increased resilience and decreased negative spontaneous thoughts in women.
Conclusion: Because the first women of polygamous families perceive and bear a lot of psychological burden, they are severely psychologically vulnerable. Therefore, providing therapy based on selection theory can play a very effective role in promoting resilience and reducing their negative spontaneous thoughts.
