Background and purpose: One of the issues that increase anxiety in nurses is the inability to control and manage stress. The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of stress management training on anxiety and occupational stress of nurses working in Golestan Hospital, Ahvaz.
Research method: The current research was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with experimental and control groups. The statistical population of the current study was 40 people who were selected by the available sampling method and randomly divided as 20 people into the control group. The research tools included Kettle's anxiety scale and Spiu's occupational stress scale. The experimental group was exposed to the independent variable (stress management training) for 10 sessions of 60 minutes, then both groups were given a post-test and a follow-up test. Multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCVA) and univariate analysis of variance (ANCVA) were used for data analysis.
Findings: The results obtained at a significant level of 5% showed that stress management training has an effect on anxiety (hidden and overt) and occupational stress of nurses working in Golestan Hospital.
Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said that stress management causes nurses to be less exposed to mental pressure, anxiety, depression, etc., and their mental quality and well-being level increases.
